southwest Virginia and West Virginia... including the following
areas... in northeast Kentucky... Boyd... Carter... Greenup and
Lawrence KY. In southwest Virginia... Buchanan and Dickenson.
In West Virginia... Logan... McDowell... Mingo... Wayne and
* Through late tonight
* rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected into tonight.
In the muggy air... any shower could contain a downpour. Soils in
many areas are wet from previous rain. If repetitive or prolong
showers occur... flash flooding along small streams is possible.
* Strong rises on headwater rivers are even possible tonight into
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a dangerous situation.
If you live along a small stream... monitor water levels during
any heavier showers. Be prepared to take action... should flash
flood warnings be issued or flooding is observed. County officials
should also increase their weather awareness.
