Special Statement

Expires 4:00 PM CST on November 23, 2014
Statement as of 4:21 am CST on November 23, 2014

... Rain today... snow and strong winds Monday...

A warm and moist air mass today will produce periods of light to
moderate rain. The highest amounts are expected across northeast
Iowa into southwest Wisconsin where over three quarters of an inch
are possible. Areas along and northwest of a line from Waterloo
to La Crosse to Medford will generally see a half inch or less.

A strong cold front will sweep across the upper Mississippi River
valley tonight with rain changing to snow. Accumulating snowfall
is likely across the region through Tuesday morning. 3 to 5 inches
are possible east of the Mississippi River with 1 to 3 inches
elsewhere. The areas of highest snowfall may shift as there is
still some uncertainty with the timing and track of the low
pressure system. Snowfall amounts may also need to be adjusted up
or down as certainty increases.

Northwest winds will increase significantly on Monday with gusts
up to 35 mph possible across wind prone areas of northeast Iowa
and southeast Minnesota. Gusts to 25 mph are possible elsewhere.
These winds may create periods of blowing and drifting snow...
resulting in reduced visibility and difficult Road conditions.
Persons with travel plans should pay close attention to the latest
forecasts and statements.
