for northeastern Roanoke County in west central Virginia...
southwestern Botetourt County in west central Virginia...
at 614 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable
of producing quarter size hail. This storm was located near
Hollins... and was moving to the south at 10 mph.
Locations impacted include...
Troutville...
Hollins...
Blue Ridge...
Cloverdale...
and laymantown.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Very large hail is expected with this severe thunderstorm. If it is
safe to do so... put your vehicle in a garage. Take cover in a sturdy
shelter away from windows.
