... NWS damage survey for 11/23/14 tornado event...

As of Monday evening... three tornadoes have been confirmed with the storm system that
pushed through Georgia on Sunday November 23rd. This information is preliminary since
surveys still need to be conducted and data needs to be reviewed. Information regarding
exact timing as well as any additional damage will be added to this pns as it becomes
available.

The storm survey for this tornado is still under evaluation. Additional information
will be entered into this section as the track and associated damage is refined.

This long track tornado began in Alabama and crossed into Stewart County Georgia as an
EF-1 tornado with winds of 110 mph. Damage consisted of snapped Hardwood trees as the
tornado rapidly moved northeastward through Stewart County.

The tornado reached its peak intensity in Upson County north of Thomaston where it
impacted a residential subdivision at del Ray Road and Tyler Lane. Numerous Hardwood trees
were snapped. A small residential leasing office building was destroyed at this location
as the exterior walls collapsed and were blown away... indicating winds of 130 mph.

The tornado moved northeast into Lamar County where it produced EF-1 damage. A metal
building on old Milner Road had roofing and siding panels blown off. Pine trees were snapped
in northeast Lamar County as well.

As the tornado moved through Butts County it maintained its EF-1 intensity... snapping
quite a few softwood trees and producing roof damage to some outbuildings. The tornado
produced some additional softwood tree damage before lifiting just after crossing into Newton
County.

This tornado touched down in southwest Monroe County and produced tree damage along
its path as it moved northeast through Monroe County. It reached its peak intensity as
it crossed Reedy Creek Road where several Hardwood trees were snapped... a barn collapsed...
and metal sheeting was peeled from the roof of another barn. A shed was destroyed
and a tree was uprooted onto a house in Smarr. After Downing more trees the tornado lifted
in Juliette.

The tornado touched down on Highway 26 near loggins Road where it ripped shingles off
a home and destroyed an above-ground pool. It reached its peak intensity along Pitts
Road where a a tied-down double-wide was pushed off its foundation and its roof was
peeled off. On east Flournoy Road a shed was overturned... trees were snapped... and
a boat was tossed over a hundred feet into a Cotton Field. Windows were blown out of
a house at this location. Additional tree... shed... and fence damage occurred before
the tornado lifted near Highway 129 in Pulaski County.
