Public Information Statement

Statement as of 1:48 PM EST on November 24, 2014

... Storm surveys ongoing for November 23 severe weather event...

Damage surveys are still in progress following the severe weather
that affected parts of central Georgia on Sunday November 23rd.
Following is the status of these surveys as of Monday afternoon.

Damage along and near I-85 in Troup County was found to be
thunderstorm wind damage not associated with a tornado.

The first confirmed tornado crossed into Stewart County from
Alabama and tracked northeastward through Stewart County. Damage
found in Stewart County thus far is consistent with an EF-1
tornado. Indications are that this storm produced may have
produced additional tornado damage as it tracked northeastward.
Surveyors are still actively surveying these areas.

Additionally... the strongest confirmed tornado damage so far is north
of Thomaston in Upson County where EF-2 damage occurred.

A more thorough determination regarding tornado paths and
intensities should be completed by tomorrow... November 25th
