Heat Advisory

Expires 11:00 PM EDT on October 05, 2014
Statement as of 1:16 PM PDT on October 1, 2014

... Heat advisory remains in effect from 11 am Friday to 8 PM PDT
Sunday...

* temperatures... day-time highs of 94 to 102 in the San Diego
County valleys. Day-time highs of 93 to 103 in the Santa Ana
Mountains and foothills.

* Timing... hottest temperatures are expected from late morning
to late afternoon Friday through Sunday.

* Impacts... heat can be stressful to animals and humans... making
it hard for the body to acclimate and remain hydrated. Without
precautions even healthy adults could experience heat stress
and illness.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible... reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.

To reduce risk during outdoor work the occupational safety and
health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency - call 911.
