High Wind Warning, Wind Advisory

Expires 10:00 AM PST on November 22, 2009
Statement as of 4:06 PM PST on November 21, 2009

... High Wind Warning in effect until midnight PST tonight...

... Wind Advisory now in effect from midnight tonight to 10 am PST
Sunday...

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a High Wind
Warning... which is in effect until midnight PST tonight. The Wind
Advisory is now in effect from midnight tonight to 10 am PST
Sunday.

Strong southerly winds are expected late this afternoon and
evening ahead of a deepening surface low that will move into
western Washington overnight. Sustained winds will reach 35 to 45
mph with gusts to around 60 mph.

Winds will become norwesterly and ease somewhat as the low lifts
through the interior Sunday morning. Sustained winds will reach 25
to 35 mph with gusts to around 45 mph. Winds will begin to ease
late Sunday morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means that a hazardous wind event is imminent
or occurring. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph... or gusts of 58
mph or higher will occur across The Lowlands.

A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph or
gusts of 45 to 57 mph are likely. Winds this strong can snap
small tree branches... topple small or shallow-rooted trees... and
cause local power outages.
