Statement as of 6:19 am CST on February 10, 2012
... Much colder weather and chances for snow this weekend...
The combination of a strong cold front and an upper level system
will bring chances for snow and much colder weather to the Oklahoma
and Texas panhandles Saturday and Sunday.
Cold weather is expected all weekend. The vast majority of the region
will not even get above freezing on Saturday. Sunday will only be
slightly warmer... with highs generally in the 30s. Lows in the
teens... combined with breezy conditions... could lead to wind chill
values near or below zero both Saturday and Sunday mornings.
The chances for precipitation... which should be all snow...
range between 30 percent in the western Oklahoma Panhandle to 50
percent in the southeastern Texas Panhandle. Snow could begin in the
western panhandles as early as Saturday evening and spread across the
region Sunday. At this time... snow totals are forecast to be between
0.5 and 3 inches.
Stay tuned to the latest forecast for the most up to date
information.
