Now
The short term forecast for the western southern tier. As of 1258 am...an upstream connection with Lake Huron, Georgian Bay is now becoming established and is aiding in the redevelopment of some lake effect snow showers coming in off of Lake Erie into the western half of the western southern tier. Snow shower intensity and coverage will increase as we progress through the early overnight hours. General snowfall rates will increase to a quarter inch per over many areas through 230 am...with up to half inch per hour rates possible...heaviest over Chautauqua and western Cattaraugus counties through 230 am. Motorists should anticipate some snow covered roadways and reduced visibilities as we head into the early overnight hours.
