East to southeast winds sustained at 15 to 25 mph will persist into the overnight hours through canyons in the Central Mountain chain and into portions of the Rio Grande Valley. Gusts to around 35 or 40 mph will be encountered along the eastern foothills of the Albuquerque Metro area south to Bernardo. Below freezing temperatures combined with the gusty wind have allowed wind chill values to range from the single digits to teens. Elsewhere...low clouds and fog will impact the Santa Fe vicinity to Los Alamos and Taos. Patchy areas of black ice could impact travel throughout this area.

Monday...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow remains in effect until 11 am
MST Monday.

* Snow accumulations... 2 to 5 inches below 7500 feet and 5 to 9
inches above 7500 feet. Locally higher amounts possible along
west and southwest facing slopes.

* Timing... snow showers developing early Sunday morning will
increase in coverage and intensity through Sunday... and
gradually taper off late Sunday night.

* Winds... no widespread significant winds are expected.

* Snow levels... near the surface Sunday morning rising to 6500
feet during the day Sunday... and falling back to the surface
Sunday night.

* Local impacts... locally moderate to briefly heavy snowfall
possible over U.S. Highways 64 and 84 and Highway 550.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will primarily cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities.
