Warnings & Notices

Freeze Warning

Expires 8:00 AM CST on February 12, 2012
Statement as of 11:51 PM CST on February 11, 2012

... Freeze warning remains in effect until 8 am CST Sunday...

* timing... through 8 am CST Sunday temperatures will fall below
freezing.

* Temperature... mid to upper twenties.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or
highly likely. These conditions can damage any early new growth
of sensitive vegetation left unprotected. During this period of
unusually cold weather... check on elderly neighbors to make sure
they have adequate heat. Outdoor pets should also have adequate
warmth. Area shelters should continue to expect increased demand.

Everyone should take adequate safety precautions with their
heating systems... and make sure to utilize Carbon monoxide
detectors in enclosed spaces. Extra caution should be used with
portable space heaters. Make sure space heaters are not left
unattended and are not used near flammable materials such as
curtains or bed coverings.

Fire Weather Warning

Expires 6:00 PM CST on February 12, 2012
Statement as of 6:01 PM CST on February 11, 2012

... Red flag warning remains in effect from 9 am to 6 PM CST
Sunday for the northwest Florida Panhandle for marginally high dispersion
indices and low relative humidities well below 35 percent...

* affected area... fire weather zones 001... 002... 003... 004...
005 and 006.

* Humidity... lowering to around 15 percent on Sunday.

* Dispersions... rising to around 75 on Sunday.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are
either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of low relative
humidity... and dry fuels will risk rapid fire growth potential.
