Statement as of 7:17 PM MST on February 10, 2012

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 9 am MST Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a
Winter Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect until 9 am
MST Saturday.

* Timing... snow will continue through midnight before gradually
decreasing by Saturday morning. The greatest accumulations are
expected this evening.

* Snow accumulation... total accumulations of 5 to 10 inches with
isolated amounts up to a foot on west and north facing slopes.

* Winds... west 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 25 mph.

* Visibility... less than a mile at times in moderate to heavy
snowfall... especially during the evening hours.

* Impacts... roads will become icy and snow packed with Interstate
70 over Vail Pass... Highway 40 over Rabbit Ears Pass... and
Highway 13 over Nine Mile Hill affected by reduced visibilities
and fog. Local blowing and drifting snow is possible over the
mountain passes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow and/or
blowing snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
